OUR VISION

Academy of Our Lady lives the Salesian family spirit of reason, religion, and loving kindness and instills in young women the values to live as Catholic Christians, the drive for life-long learning, and the skills to succeed as responsible citizens in society and work for justice. 

OUR PURPOSE

Academy of Our Lady:

• promotes the Salesian family spirit in an environment in which all students feel welcome, safe, and nurtured;
• incorporates the Salesian educational philosophy of reason, religion, and loving kindness in interactions with all members of the educating community;
• fosters Catholic values and the development of a personal relationship with Christ through catechesis, prayer, the sacraments, and Marian devotion;
• promotes a love for learning through actively engaging the young in the learning process in an environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and decision-making skills;
• equips the students for success through a holistic educational program that provides rigorous academics, leadership opportunities, exposure to the arts, experiences of entrepreneurship, competitive athletics, and extra-curricular activities;
• develops a sense of solidarity with others and empowers the students to respond through service and political advocacy on the part of the marginalized.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We, at Academy of Our Lady, exist for the catechesis and education of young women.

• We believe in the redemptive power of Christ, experienced in the Sacraments and the Liturgy.
• We honor Mary, under the title of the Immaculate Help of Christians, and inculcate in ourselves and in our students a strong yet loving devotion to her.
• We live the spirituality of St. John Bosco and Sr. Mary Mazzarello as articulated in the Preventive System of Education and strive to live in the Salesian Family Spirit.
• We adhere to the policies and standards given by the Archdiocese of New Orleans under the guidance of Archbishop Alfred Hughes.
• We educate as a Salesian school, under the administration of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco).
• We recognize our role as partners with the parents in the formation and the education of their children.
• We believe that all students can learn and learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
• We strive to provide an environment that is conducive to learning that fosters critical thinking, that instills values, and that nurtures the faith life of the young person.

OUR STUDENT PLEDGE

I promise to uphold the values of my faith, to live the Salesian Family spirit of reason, religion, and loving kindness, to strive for life-long learning, and to use the skills I attain at the Academy of Our Lady to succeed as a responsible citizen in society and to work for justice.
