The annual Back to School Assembly was held on August 24. Students and faculty members competed against one another in fun games, designed by the Leadership Class, to earn spirit points.
At the end of the assembly, Principal Sr. Michelle Geiger was honored in recognition of her 25th jubilee of dedication to the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco.
Student Council President and senior Gianna Ezeb presented Sr. Michelle with the Golden Scepter Award on behalf of the student body, faculty and staff. The Golden Scepter Award reflects the image of Mary under the title of “Help of Christians.” The Golden Scepter Award is a special honor and tradition at Academy of Our Lady, that is given to a graduating senior who has gone over and above the school’s service requirement. Academy of Our Lady’s Administration felt there was no better time to modify the award and bestow it upon Sr. Michelle.
As Ezeb perfectly stated during the surprise presentation, “Twenty-five years ago, Sr Michelle made a vow to follow Christ for the rest of her life. She left everything behind and chose to walk with Jesus as a Salesian Sister. Sr Michelle, we thank you for your commitment to spreading the love of Jesus through your words, actions, and dedication to our school. You are a true model of Salesian holiness. Our school would not be the same without you.”
