The Law Intern class ventured off campus to visit the Jefferson Parish 24th Judicial District Court. Students observed a motion and saw first-hand what takes place when someone takes a plea. Judge Grefer, assistant district attorneys and Chief Judicial Administrator Renee Aguilar, who is an alumna and current AOL parent, took time to visit with the students, answer questions and explain the innerworkings of the court. Students currently taking the Law Internship class offered at Academy of Our Lady participated in a mock trial. The case dealt with accidental gun violence. Each student played an important role in the trial from the defense, prosecution and members of the jury to witnesses. Ms. Matherne, the Law Intern teacher who is an attorney and has more than 20 years of experience practicing law, acted as judge.
