Academy of Our Lady’s Health Care Club hosted the annual Blood Drive on Thursday, April 15. Members of the Academy of Our Lady community were invited to give blood with all donations given in the name of Jake Meerman. Jake is the two-year-old son of Alumna Michelle Labruzza Meerman ’08 who has been diagnosed with B Lymphoblasic Leukemia. Let us continue to keep Jake in our daily prayers. Eight students enrolled in Essential of Nursing Assisting Internship II successfully completed the semester course and the state requirements to earn the certification to be a nurse aide/Certified Nursing Assistant. To read more click on the title of this post.
Seventeen Academy of Our Lady students recently earned the Certified Nursing Aide certification by completing the required hours of training and successfully passing the competency evaluation required by the Louisiana Department of Health. These students are currently taking Academy of Our Lady’s Health Occupation Internship II elective in addition to their required college preparatory curriculum. Academy of Our Lady offers the unique opportunity through various elective courses for students to gain hands-on experience and training prior to stepping foot on a university campus. These courses give students an academic advantage as they enter college to pursue a career in their chosen field. Other courses of study within the Program of Academic Majors include Law & Civil Leadership, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Culinary Arts.
