Nine Academy of Our Lady students traveled to Washington D.C. to represent the Archdiocese of New Orleans at the annual March for Life on January 24. Members of Academy of Our Lady’s Student Council attended the Louisiana Association of Student Councils State Convention in Pineville, Louisiana the weekend of January 18. Ninety-seven high schools from throughout Louisiana were present at LASC. Eight students enrolled in Essential of Nursing Assisting Internship II successfully completed the semester course and the state requirements to earn the certification to be a nurse aide/Certified Nursing Assistant. To read more click on the title of this post.
The basketball team, soccer team and the Academy of Our Lady cheerleaders were honored at the winter sports pep rally on January 16. Students and faculty also participated in games designed by Student Council to earn spirit points. The senior class was awarded the spirit megaphone at the end of rally. Members of the Right Life Club hosted events during lunch in observance of Right to Life Week January 13-17. The goals of these events were to help students understand that Right to Life is about respect for all life from the moment of conception until natural death. Students focused on various topics including disability, human trafficking, the elderly, abortion and a celebration of all life. Pre-freshman Therese Tran and senior Gillian Decossas have been named Academy of Our Lady’s Students of the Year. Each year Academy of Our Lady selects a pre-freshman and senior as students of the year to represent the school in the New Orleans Archdiocesan Student of the Year competition. Great job ladies!
