Freshman Mindy Harlow, senior Alexia Nguyen and senior Abbey Rodivich volunteered their time and talent to create a piece of art for the Gulf Coast Faith Formation Conference. Each student’s design corresponded with the conference theme GO FORTH: That All May Be One. According to the conference website, the Gulf Coast Faith Formation Conference offers those involved in catechesis and evangelization in the Catholic Church an opportunity to enhance their ministries and to deepen their commitment to Jesus Christ through. Senior Magen Authement signed a letter of intent to play softball at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi on January 23. Authement has been a student at Academy of Our Lady since 2014 as an eighth grade student. In addition to maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Authement is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Sparkles of Light and Health Care Club. She is also the captain of the Softball Team. She plans to major in Biology in hopes of one day becoming a doctor. To view photos click on the title of this post.
Academy of Our Lady and Archbishop Shaw students who earned a composite of 30 or above on the ACT were treated to a chick-fil-a lunch with principals Sr. Michelle Geiger and Mr. Mark Williams.
Seniors Nia Berry, Angelle Bruchi, Grace Hardy and Brionne’ Nelson were honored on January 22 for their dedication to the Academy of Our Lady Soccer Team. A ceremony was held following a 3-1 victory over Franklinton High School where senior players were honored for their achievements throughout their high school soccer career at Academy of Our Lady. Academy of Our Lady’s Guidance Department created the Golden Torch Society to honor and celebrate academic achievement on the ACT by juniors or seniors. Within the Golden Torch Society there are two tiered categories which include The Core of Excellence and The Inner Circle. To be a member of The Core of Excellence students must score a composite of 30 or above on the ACT and to be a member of The Inner Circle students must score a composite of 25 or above on the ACT. The Golden Torch Society was created to encourage, promote and celebrate academic excellence throughout school. Seventeen Academy of Our Lady students recently earned the Certified Nursing Aide certification by completing the required hours of training and successfully passing the competency evaluation required by the Louisiana Department of Health. These students are currently taking Academy of Our Lady’s Health Occupation Internship II elective in addition to their required college preparatory curriculum. Academy of Our Lady offers the unique opportunity through various elective courses for students to gain hands-on experience and training prior to stepping foot on a university campus. These courses give students an academic advantage as they enter college to pursue a career in their chosen field. Other courses of study within the Program of Academic Majors include Law & Civil Leadership, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Culinary Arts. Seven Academy of Lady students – including senior Madeline Boudreau, sophomore Janette Pina, senior Harlee Barbier, sophomore Stefani Monfra, senior Macy Glenn, freshman Marissa Bruce and pre-freshman Victoria Collins – will embark on pilgrimage to Washington D.C. on January 15 with Louisiana Right to Life to advocate for the unborn in March for Life on January 18.

Application Day for prospective students applying for the eighth and ninth grades will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Testing for high school placement will be conducted. Check-in begins at 7:15 am with testing starting at 8:00 am sharp. The Academy of Our Lady application for admission along with required documentation is due on this day.
