Seniors Hailee Richard and Breanne Breaux were honored April 9 before the softball game against Ponchatoula High School at Penguin Park. The team and family members gathered after the game to reminisce and honor the seniors for their contribution to Academy of Our Lady’s softball program. The Robotics Team, also known as the Power Struck Girls, competed in the First Robotics Competition (FRC) Bayou Regional with teams from both Louisiana and Mississippi. The girls were awarded the Imagery Award and the Safety Recognition Award. Click on the title of this post to view more photos.
Student Council hosted the second annual Color Run at Academy of Our Lady on March 24. Those participating in the run were challenged by an obstacle course and colored powder thrown their way along the route. Click on the title of this post to view more photos.
Academy of Our Lady held the annual Basket and BBQ Bash on Saturday, March 24. Guests enjoyed great food prepared by the Papa Penguins and students in Culinary elective classes. Guests also had the opportunity to win wonderful prizes provided by the homerooms and clubs. Photography club hosted photos with the Easter Bunny.
Culture Club is sponsoring a toiletry drive in support of the Covenant House. Students are encouraged to donate toiletries and items can be brought to the Technology office until April 6. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. St. Germain at mstgermain@theacademyofourlady.org.
Academy of Our Lady students competed in the Louisiana Region I Science Olympiad at Nicholls State University on Saturday, March 17. Academy of Our Lady students in eighth and ninth grade competed in Division B, which is comprised of students in grades 6-9 throughout Louisiana. The Academy of Our Lady Division B team, or junior team, won second place overall in the competition. Academy of Our Lady freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors competed in Division C, which is comprised of students in grades 9-12 throughout Louisiana. The Parent Club invites current students and their mothers to an evening at Le Maison Creole on April 14 at 7-10 pm. There will be great food, games and prizes. Payment must be submitted by Wednesday, April 11. Students are also encouraged to submit a photo with their mother for a special slideshow. Academic excellence and spring athletic teams were honored at the March Pep Rally. As part of the Renaissance portion of the pep rally students were recognized for their academic achievements including scoring a 30 or higher on any portion of the ACT. All senior athletes were honored as well. Senior parents surprised the students with a choreographed performance.
Girls in grades 4-7 are invited to participate in the ultimate spirit competition! Experience a fun night filled with all things Academy of Our Lady Penguins and the Salesian family spirit. Activities include field day-style games, performances, prizes, pizza and much more! Cost to attend is $10 (includes t-shirt). Registration required.
