Academy of Our Lady’s ProStart II students attended the second annual Olive Mass on September 25 at the St. Louis Cathedral. The Olive Mass, hosted by The Table Foundation, celebrates the New Orleans food and hospitality industry.
Freshmen Maria Abreu, Lindsey Hebert and Sanaa Washington represented Academy of Our Lady at the Brown Foundation’s annual Service Learning Event on September 12. Academy of Our Lady was awarded at total of $2,400 in grants for two service learning programs in which Academy students will participate. Academy of Our Lady welcomed five new faculty members and an accounting clerk to our Salesian family this school year. We are thrilled to have these new faces on campus.
The Academy of Our Lady Robotics Team competed in an off-season event called The Red Stick Rumble on August 26. The annual event was held at Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge where 24 teams from Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi competed. Competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition game of 2017 called FIRST Steamworks, the Academy of Our Lady robotics team were able to put Tonks, the robot they built and crafted, into action. The team advanced to the quarterfinals.
