Academy of Our Lady students in Environmental Science recently visited Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve to conduct lab testing on water quality of the swamp. Students then took their findings back to the classroom to complete activities tied to points of pollution in urban and suburban areas. It was determined that the local swamp water is in good shape.
Seniors Nokomis Rocker and Jacqueline Cook worked together as they made their observations of the swamp water sample they collected.
A representative from Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve gave an overview of the park to the class prior to their sample collection.
Senior Megan Dufrene and her lab partner worked together as they collected their swamp water sample.
