Twenty-two Academy of Our Lady students traveled to Thibodaux, Louisiana to compete in the Louisiana Region I Science Olympiad at Nicholls State University on March 23. In Division B, consisting of nine teams throughout Louisiana with students in 6
th-9
th grade, Academy of Our Lady’s team placed second overall and qualified for the state competition. Ten Academy of Our Lady students on the Division C team placed in their competing categories. Division C consisted of 14 teams from 11 schools with students in grades 9-12.
Division B Team awards include first place in Circuit Lab - freshman Milea Tran and freshman Christine Pham;
second place in Crime Busters – pre-freshman Gabrielle Jenkins and freshman Paris Labadie;
second place in Disease Detectives – freshman Milea Tran and freshman Emma Palmisano;
first place in Elastic Launched Glider – freshman Milea Tran and freshman Paris Labadie;
third place in Game On – freshman Christine Pham and pre-freshman Duyen Pham;
first place in Heredity – freshman Emma Palmisano and freshman Paris Labadie;
third place in Herpetology – freshman Anh Dao and pre-freshman Juliana Sykes;
second place in Potion & Poisons - freshman Christine Pham and pre-freshman Kaylee Nguyen;
third place in Road Scholar – pre-freshman Jaden Armond and pre-freshman Kyra Poree;
third place in Solar System - pre-freshman Jaden Armond and pre-freshman Kayla Dion;
second place in Thermodynamics – pre-freshman Kayla Dion, pre-freshman Jaden Armond and freshman Emma Palmisano;
first place in Write It/Do It – freshman Christine Pham and freshman Emma Palmisano.
