Juniors and seniors in Personal Finance played a socially distant Game of Life in preparation of the class exam. Each student was required to keep a list of their transactions and current balance so that “money” was not being shared. They also had their own dice instead of the traditional spinner.
Some transactions included: getting married, payday, college tuition, buying a house, or taking a trip. Students were excited to choose a career and everyone hoped to receive the coveted Doctor career card.
Students also practiced their check writing skills by writing checks if they were required to pay the bank or an opponent. Some students had to take out a loan. They had to keep track of how much they borrowed and be sure it was paid back. The student in each group that had the most money at retirement won. “Playing The Game of Life really was a great way to review all of the topics that we have discussed this semester. The girls have learned about checking accounts, student loans, and credit, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. It also helped them have a little fun at the end of a very exhausting semester. I hope they enjoyed it.” Mrs. Kellie Muller said.
