Academy of Our Lady welcomes Frank Palmisano to the athletic staff as the new Head Softball Coach for the 2018-19 school year.
Palmisano is a familiar face at Academy of Our Lady as he was previously an assistant softball coach during the 2016-17 school year. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and more than 30 years of coaching experience as he makes his return to the Academy.
“It is a blessing for me to be able to return to Academy of Our Lady as head coach. I’m excited about this opportunity. The Westbank has a rich talent pool of softball players and this could become something very special,” Palmisano explained. “I can’t emphasize enough the quality of people I’ll get to work with including Principal Sr. Michelle Geiger, Athletic Director Scott Walker and Assistant Softball Coach Scott Richard.”
The Academy of Our Lady softball team has made an appearance in the state playoffs for the past eight years and were the 2017 LHSAA State Semi-finalist.
“It’s an exciting time at Academy of Our Lady as our athletic program continues to grow and strive for excellence,” Athletic Director Scott Walker said. “Coach Frank is a tremendous addition to the athletic staff and we are thrilled to welcome him back. He and Assistant Coach Scott Richard will bring a caliber of coaching that will ensure our athletes reach their greatest potential.”
Principal Sr. Michelle Geiger knows that there are great things in store for the athletic program and thrilled to see how things unfold.
“It is of utmost importance that our student athletes make tremendous strides inside the classroom while having mentors to motivate them to do their best on and off the field. I am excited to have Coach Frank back on campus and I’m looking forward to seeing what the team will accomplish this year,” Principal Sr. Michelle Geiger said.
