Academy of Our Lady has welcomed nine new faculty members to our Salesian family this year.
Oliva Bozant received her Bachelor of Arts from Centenary College of Louisiana where she majored in French. Bozant is teaching French II. In the past Bozant has taught at Pope John Paul II in Slidell. She is an avid swimmer and has been swimming since she was eight years old. Bozant is excited to be at Academy of Our Lady. “I am looking forward to integrating the French culture in my student’s lives, as well as learning more about St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mozzarello,” Bozant explained.
Mary Briscoe, an educator of 11 years, is the newest member of the Science Department. She is teaching Chemistry and Physical Science Honors. Briscoe received her masters from Southern University A&M college in Environmental Chemistry. Briscoe’s previous teaching experience includes teaching at the University at Holy Cross and Delgado Community College as an assistant professor as well as teaching middle school in Austin, TX. An Academy of Our Lady parent herself (Briscoe is the mother of sophomore Sanaa Washington), Briscoe is looking forward to getting to know the students and staff.
Lauren Dupre, a graduate of The John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University, is teaching ProStart I, ProStart II, Baking & Pastries and International Cuisine. Dupre is excited to be a part of Academy of Our Lady especially because Academy of Our Lady is the only Catholic high school in the State of Louisiana to offer the ProStart Program. When not working Dupre enjoys reading and cooking with her family. Dupre is the sister of sophomore Madison Dupre.
Sr. Lillian Fox, FMA is thrilled to be a part of the Academy of Our Lady family this year. Academy of Our Lady is blessed to have another Salesian sister present on campus. Sr. Lillian is teaching Spanish I and sophomore Religion. She is a graduate of St. Mary’s University in Winona, MN and brings 18 years of experience in education to Academy of Our Lady. Her experience in teaching ranges from pre-school to college. New to New Orleans, Sr. Lillian is looking forward to trying gator for the first time. In her free time, Sr. Lillian enjoys reading, hiking, camping, fishing, painting, crocheting, chatting and watching sci-fi.
Lisa May brings 29 years of teaching experience to Academy of Our Lady. May is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she majored in English. May is teaching World Geography and Family and Consumer Science. Having recently relocated to New Orleans, May is looking forward to attending a festival. May is also looking forward to getting to know everyone at Academy of Our Lady and feels blessed to be a part of the community.
Mallory Meinhardt, a graduate of the University of Holy Cross where she majored in Health Science, is teaching Intro to Health Occupations, Internship I, Health Science and Medical Terminology. Meinhardt is looking forward to sharing her passion for the health science field with her students. A native of New Orleans, Meinhardt’s favorite event of the year is Mardi Gras. “I love going to the parades with my children and family,” explained Meinhardt.
Alumna Kellie Muller, Blenk ’07 is teaching Algebra I. Muller is a graduate of the University of New Orleans where she earned her Bachelor of Science in secondary education – Mathematics and a minor in Mathematics. “As a graduate of Archbishop Blenk, Academy of Our Lady feels like home for me,” Muller explained. “I was just like these girls only a “few” years ago. I remember loving going to school because of the friendships that I made and the fun that we had at Blenk. I now feel the same excitement going to work every day.” When not spending time on campus, Muller enjoys camping with her husband and kids, crafting, riding bikes and going to Disney World!
Sean Murray is one of two new faculty members joining us through the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education. A graduate of Villanova University where he majored in Economics and Accounting, Murray is currently in the process of completing his Master of Education. At Academy of Our Lady, he is teaching Math 8 and Pre-Algebra. A Chicago native, Murray is looking forward to exploring New Orleans specifically the food and culture.
Colin Riley, a Chicago native, is a member of the Academy of Our Lady faculty through the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education. He is teaching Algebra II, Algebra II Honors and Algebra II Lab. Riley is currently pursuing a Master of Education from the University of Notre Dame where he completed his undergraduate studies in Economics and Mathematics. When asked what he most looking forward to this year Riley replied, “Being immersed in the Academy of Our Lady community. It seems like such a unique place and I’m very excited to get to know all the faculty, staff and students and to become part of the community.”
