Academy of Our Lady Robotics Team member sophomore Kyra Poree’ has been named a Dean’s List Finalist by the FIRST Tech Challenge. Kyra is just one of four students in the four-state region of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi to be selected. As a finalist, Kyra will participate in the championship round of interviews for the Dean’s List Award.
Students who earn FIRST Dean’s List status as either a semi-finalist,
finalist or winner, are great examples of current student leaders who have
led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its
mission while achieving personal technical expertise and accomplishment.
Through The FIRST Tech Challenge students learn to think like engineers. Robotics teams design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Robots are built from a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming.
