Every great event needs even greater behind the scenes helpers to execute the vision. For many high schools, these helpers are known as Ambassadors. Ambassadors are the students who represent their school while assisting at functions to help showcase their school to prospective students and families.
Academy of Our Lady is no exception. The Ambassadors share the mission of Academy of Our Lady with the community. They are responsible for putting on our Fantastic Friday Nights (an evening opportunity for fourth - seventh grade students to partake in different and exciting events based on certain academic subjects) and our Open House, where we work as tour guides. Ambassadors also represent the school at other various events throughout the year. Now, being an ambassador is no easy feat. Director of Institutional Advancement and Admissions Mallory Matute, the moderator of the Academy of Our Lady Ambassadors, gave more insight as to what comes from being part of this club.
“To be an Ambassador means to take on a large responsibility. The students are not only representing their school but also their peers. There is a great benefit to being an Ambassador.” she says, “Student Ambassadors learn responsibility, time management and communication skills.”
Having been a part of this amazing association for four years, I’m proud to confirm that this club not only strengthened those skills, but made me comfortable and confident using them. It’s hard to imagine what my high school experience would have been like if I didn’t join this amazing club. I am thankful for the club for so many reasons. Ambassadors truly feel like another family to me. A family that will be always there with open arms, a welcoming attitude, and a “Welcome to the Academy of Our Lady” on their smiling lips.
