Academy of Our Lady is thrilled to announce the newest addition to campus and the athletic facilities, a high school practice track. Construction begins early February. With the completion date projected in mid-April.
The track is one of many projects on Principal Sr. Michelle Geiger’s list to enhance Academy of Our Lady’s all-encompassing campus.
“I am so thrilled to add on to our growing campus. More importantly, it brings me great joy and peace to know that our girls will no longer have to venture off campus for track and field activities. The track is just one of many projects I hope we are able to fulfill as we continue to service the young women of the Westbank,” Sr. Michelle said.
Keeping the girls safe and on campus was one of the main driving forces of this project in addition to expanding the current facilities. In the past, the track and field team would practice at various playgrounds off campus.
“I feel this is a huge benefit for our athletic program. The track allows our athletes to have a safe place to practice. The athletic staff will now have a way to measure the progress of each athlete. This is another exciting asset to the school’s athletic program,” Athletic Director Kenneth Marroccoli explained.
The track is the most recent addition to the Academy of Our Lady campus and athletic facilities which include a 1,000-seat gymnasium, a softball field and batting cage and a soccer field.
“I want to thank Sr. Michelle for the hard work to make this possible. Every addition to the athletic program, small or large, is an opportunity to provide a dynamic environment for our students to excel. This is a blessing for our school,” Marroccoli said.
