Freshman Mindy Harlow, senior Alexia Nguyen and senior Abbey Rodivich volunteered their time and talent to create a piece of art for the Gulf Coast Faith Formation Conference. Each student’s design corresponded with the conference theme GO FORTH: That All May Be One. According to the conference website, the Gulf Coast Faith Formation Conference offers those involved in catechesis and evangelization in the Catholic Church an opportunity to enhance their ministries and to deepen their commitment to Jesus Christ through.
Artwork and explanation:
Freshman Mindy Harlow is currently in Art II and explains her work in her own words:
I chose to draw the earth inside of an eye. I chose to draw the earth because it symbolizes people as a whole. I then decided to draw it inside an eye, to symbolize how people see each other equally. This may seem simple, but I believe it is very important, especially for this generation.
Senior Alexia Nguyen is currently taking Art Graphics II and explains her art work in her words:
For this piece, I wanted to show that everyone was put on this earth for reason whether we believe it or not. All of the colors and lights around the girl show that something is happening due to our actions even if we don’t see it. The girl is falling to earth to show that we came from God himself and we should appreciate that by having daily conversations with him throughprayer. I enjoyed making this piece because I was able to incorporate one of my strongest beliefs, which is that we are here for a reason.
Senior Abbey Rodivich is currently taking Art II and explains her artwork in her own words:
My art design for this theme was the four parts of the oratory. I feel that as a Salesian and as a student, one of the most important ways we as a student body can be one is through the teachings of Don Bosco. We all come together as one when we set foot on campus since AOL is a home that welcomes. By going to mass and adoration, we are coming together as one through a church that evangelizes. During retreats, pep rallies, field day, and battle of the birds, we are coming together as one on a playground where friends meet. And finally, the education we are receiving in all of our classes brings us together as one with a school that prepares for life. As a senior, I plan to take the oratory to heart with me as I venture off to college remembering to share with my fellow peers that we can all be one as a Salesian family.
