Dear Parents and Students,As the number of Coronavirus diagnoses grows in the area, we are taking additional measures to ensure the safety of our school family. In keeping with the advice of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and health care professionals, we will be cancelling all off-site school sponsored events, such as field trips.
The list of cancellations includes:
3/19 – St. Joseph’s Altar
3/20-3/21 – Key Club DCon
3/23 - Anatomy & Physiology Field Trip
3/26 - Music Department Field Trip
3/27- Sophomore Zoo Trip
At this time, all high school sporting events are still taking place. Any decision to cancel games will be made in consultation with the LHSAA, the coaches, and administration. The Robotics Tournament is taking place as well.
We do not know if Abbey Fest is still taking place.
The administration has begun to prepare a contingency plan in the event of a prolonged closure. At our regularly schedule faculty meeting tomorrow, individual teachers will be asked to begin working on a plan for their courses should this become a necessity. Because information regarding the evolution of the virus is fluid, it is critical that we have a plan in place should we need to enact these procedures on short notice. While remote learning and instruction is certainly not optimal, it might become a reality as the state of our community continues to change rapidly.
It is important that we not engage in contributing to rumors or growing hysteria. Rather, we need to be honest about the facts as we learn them, encourage good hygiene, and keep a balanced outlook.
