Academy Sews for Homeless

Students in the Clothing and Textile class at Academy of Our Lady shop for fabric with which to make blankets for the homeless.  This service-learning opportunity is funded through the Brown Service Learning Foundation.

Malinda Rivarde of Marrero, Shuruk Abdelwahab of Gretna, Ashleigh Harness of Harvey, and De'ja Colemen of Harvey, at Hancock Fabrics in Gretna selecting enough fleece fabric to make 50 blankets. The finished blankets are given to the St. Jude Community Center for the homeless in New Orleans, LA.
