The Academy Is Approved by DHH for Nurse Aide Training
Academy of Our Lady has received approval by the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) to certify students in the Health Science Major as Certified Nurse Aides (CNA).Students will also receive college credit through a dual-enrollment program with Delgado Community College.
Students who have completed Medical Terminology, Health Science, Health Occupations, Internship I, and Internship II can qualify for this certification. This program makes the students eligible for employment in the health field while pursing college degrees in nursing and in the medical field. Internship I is held at West Jefferson Hospital. Students observe health professionals in Radiology, Pharmacy, Pediatrics, the ER, ICU, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. Internship II is held at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare center where the students are engaged in hands-on interaction with the residents.
