Students Awarded WJMC Junior Volunteers Scholarships
Junior Volunteers Vivian Cu received the $3,000 scholarship and Pauline Tu was awarded the $1,500 scholarship. Both students are enrolled in the Health Science Major, part of the Program of Academy Majors at Academy of Our Lady. Cu plans on being an Orthodontist and credits the environment at West Jefferson Hospital in helping her to make this decision. Tu wants to be a Cardiologist and feels that she learned a great deal about different departments through the Junior Volunteer program. Students eligible for these scholarships must have completed two years of service, submit an essay, be interviewed by the scholarship committee, and be rated by the department in which they volunteered. In addition, the recipient must complete a minimum of 50 hours of service for each of the two years.
