AOL Celebrates the 50 Year Anniversary of "I Had a Dream"
The celebration was held at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, and was organized by the Office of Black Ministries, the Office of Racial Harmony, the Office of Catholic Schools, and the CYO/Youth and Young Adult Ministry Office. Current Archbishop of New Orleans, Gregory Aymond, was joined by retired Archbishop Alfred Hughes, other church and civic dignitaries, and students from all the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese in prayer and in song.
“We’ve come a long way in 50 years”, said Archbishop Aymond, “but we still have a long way to go. And I think our young people, or the young church as I love to call them, can really bring this message forward.”
Senior Flora Nguyen spoke in the name of the Academy students. “One man can make a difference. We have to stand for what you believe in so we can make our country a lot better.”
