AOL goes Back to the 80's
Academy of Our Lady high school Thalian Society brought audiences Back to the 80’s from March 21 through 23, 2013 in the Academy of Our Lady Gymnasium. The musical show featured students from Academy of Our Lady, Archbishop Shaw High School, De La Salle High School, and New Orleans Military Academy.
The "totally awesome" musical that tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School that graduated in the 1980's, as remembered and seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, who is now 30-something. The audience joined the graduating class as they experience the fun, the heartbreak, the loves and the loneliness of growing up.... all set to the biggest hits of the 80's!
On Thursday, March 21 the performance was a is a special alumni preview featuring food, beverages, 80’s trivia and a big hair contest. The menu revolved around food that was popular or introduced in the 80s. Guests feasted on spinach and artichoke dip prepared by AOL culinary arts students, McDonald's Chicken McNuggets, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's favorite pizza, and Pac-Man cookies. The winners of the big hair contest were Mary Grace Collins, daughter of Immaculata High School alumna Silvana Montagnino, '89, and Olivia Maher, daughter of Archbishop Blenk alumna Michelle Freeman Maher, '82.
