Ever go somewhere new and feel lost, confused, or scared? At the Academy of Our Lady there is a tradition to help with this transition: the Big Sister/Little Sister program. This program came about in order to welcome the freshmen class and make them feel part of the AOL family.
Seniors officially welcomed the freshmen to the Academy of Our Lady family during the first school Mass held in early September. An Academy of Our Lady senior is paired up with a member of the freshman class to be a friend, mentor and guide! This bond is strengthened during Welcome Week! Activities take place on campus to help new students become familiar with each other and the campus.
The highlight of the week is the Freshmen Pinning. At the end of the first school Mass, the tradition big sisters pinning little sisters took place. The importance of the event is to welcome our new members so that one day they will be able to do the same.
Senior Class President, Gabrielle Klinner reminded the freshmen, “The Class of 2013 would like you to know that we love each one of you and our prayer is that God will bless you throughout your time here at Academy of Our Lady and beyond.”
