May Crowning
The Academy’s students and staff honored Mary, the mother of Jesus, with the annual May Crowning ceremony on May 7. Our school family gathered in the gym for prayer and song, and members of the junior class placed a crown of flowers on a statue of Mary on the gym’s stage. Members of the other classes then left the gym and placed crowns on the other Mary statues on our campus. The sophomores crowned Mary, Mother of God, which is located by the Shrine Chapel. Members of the freshman class crowed the statue of Mary Immaculate that is located on Sixth Street directly across from the library. Finally, eighth graders gathered at the statue of Mary, the Madonna of the Street, which is located in front of the Knights of Columbus Hall on Avenue D.
