Mrs. Lesley Babcock’s English 2 classes studied recycling and participated in a great recycling project for the “Academy Goes Green” week on campus.  The English 2 students coordinated a sneaker recycling project in partnership with shoe giant Nike.  Nike provided the class with customized recycling bins for a “Reuse-A-Shoe” program that collects discarded and worn out sneakers and recycles the components.  Nike uses the old shoes to make new, artificial surfaces for basketball courts, tennis courts, running tracks, and playgrounds.  Showing the nearly full recycling bins are Jessica Alwell and Erika Dickerson, sophomores.
