Sophomores Win Powder Puff
Student spirit was at its peak on November 18, 2011 as each of the Academy of Our Lady’s grades gathered on the ICS playground for the annual Powder Puff flag football competition. Teams from each class clashed in a quest for The Golden Football, the trophy awarded to each year’s champion. The AOL eighth graders opened the day by playing a competitive game against Immaculate Conception School’s eighth graders. That was followed by elimination games between the freshmen and sophomores and then between the juniors and seniors. The sophomores and seniors then went head to head for the championship.
When the final whistle sounded, Coach Robert Chauvin and his sophomores earned the Golden Football for the first time in AOL’s five year history. The game punctuated the conclusion of a festive Spirit Week on campus. On the following night, students from all grades enjoyed an evening at Magnolia Plantation for the annual Homecoming Dance.
