Dozens of students in the eighth through eleventh grades were given well-deserved recognition at the Underclassmen Awards Ceremony on May 20 in the Academy gym.

Among the many students recognized were those with the highest cumulative averages at the end of the third quarter.  Those students were Emily Oncale, eighth grade; Emily Fettet, ninth grade; Kathy Le, eleventh grade; and Tina Phan, eleventh grade. 

Many students received awards for achievements such as the highest average in specific courses, for membership in honor societies, and for their participation in the State and District Literary Rallies and in the regional and state Science Olympiads. 

Other individuals given special recognition included:

Vigna Patel: Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Humanities / Social Sciences Award.
Tina Phan: Tulane Book Award.
Jennifer Kenyon: Bausch & Lomb Science Award.
Kim Vu: George Eastman Young Leaders Award.
Ana Popich: Xerox Award.
Maegan Pohlmann: St. Michael’s College Book Award.
Margaret Randall: Xavier University Essay Contest.
