Mission Club Auction Benefits Cafe Hope

Mission Club’s annual Food Box Auction. The auction’s proceeds were donated to Café Hope, a Marrero restaurant that provides hands-on training for at risk youth.
Café Hope is an outreach program of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Louis Arocha, executive director of Café Hope, addressed the student body after the auction and complimented their spirit. Arocha added that the Academy family’s generosity was an example of Christian stewardship and care for community members in need.
The auction items included boxes of food, each stocked to feed at least eight people, that were filled with sodas, snacks, and food from students-favorite restaurants such as Popeyes’, Cane’s, McDonald’s, and Taco Bell. Several campus organizations donated cash to fill the boxes. Co-auctioneers and staff members Kenneth Hunter and Jamie Burmaster guided the auction as students gathered in groups to pool their funds in the competitive bidding process.
