Multicultural Week

A sampling of food and clothing from a variety of cultures was featured at the Culture Day event. Unfriendly weather conditions moved the event from the school courtyard to the gym, but that didn’t hurt the wonderful flavor of the many food items students enjoyed thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Melinda St. Germain and her Culture Club members. Baklava, Honduran sweet corn, and several other tasty food items were offered to Culture Day visitors, and several students also wore clothing that reflected the cultures of foreign nations. A special treat was provided by the Marrero Lion Dance Team when its members, in colorful costumes, demonstrated an exciting lion dance that is celebrated in some Asian cultures.
