Advanced Food Students Study Asian Cuisine

Students in the Advanced Food and Nutrition Class wanted to have authentic ingredients to prepare an Asian-influenced meal, so they took a field trip to the Hong Kong Market in Terrytown to find the right vegetables, fruit, and meat for their cooking. Accompanied by Mrs. Linda Draggon, teacher, the students surveyed the wide variety of fresh foods available at the market. Students purchased mangoes, jack fruit, beef, shrimp, bean sprouts, and other foods. After their shopping trip, they had an Asian luncheon at the Panda King restaurant. Under Mrs. Draggon’s guidance, students later used their ingredients to cook spring rolls and other side dishes in the Food and Nutrition kitchen on campus.
