“Be it known to all who enter here that Jesus Christ is the reason for our schools to exist. He is the ever-present teacher, the model of the faculties, and the inspiration of its students.”

Political Advocacy/ Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. trip focuses on the issue of lack of affordable housing and homelessness. We will study and work with ways to help solve the problem of lack of affordable housing. This includes direct service to the homeless complemented by political advocacy.
We will begin our day of service early. Depending on the site you go to, you may have to be on the subway at 6 am. We finish serving the homeless after lunch. We will be going to S.O.M.E. , Capitol Food Bank, and DC Kitchen. In the afternoons, we will visits to the Senator’s Office, the White House, Congress, the Holocaust Museum, the U.S. Mint and other sites.
Some evenings there will be guest speakers in the evening from the National Coalition for the Homeless and other groups. During the break between breakfast and lunch there will be political advocacy sessions.
Every day a group of students will be required to prepare dinner for all of the participants. They will be in charge of shopping on a set budget (money will be given them), preparing and cleaning up. This will help them understand cost of living and responsibility.
