Bowling

Varsity Bowling Team Scores Important Victory.

As the regular season for bowling nears the end, the Penguins came home with an upset victory over Cabrini 16 to 11 pushing the team record to 6/5.  In the first game of the match, led by Junior, Linh Dinh's 166 game and Junior, Lauren Barrois's 140 game, the see-saw battle between two playoff bound opponents ended in a 4 to 4 tie.  In the second game of the match Juniors Ashely Aucoin and Hien Tran led the charge with 156 and 150 games respectively, along with clutch bowling by Senior Tanisha Pierce (Tanisha needed a strike in the tenth frame to defeat Cabrini's top bowler by one pin), the Fighting Penguins defeated the Crescents 6 to 2.  With a slim lead going into the last and determining game for the match, once again Linh Dinh, Lauren Barrois along with Senior Brianna Melanson came through with victories giving the Penguins the match.

The Regional Championship Tournament to be held on March 27th at All Star Lanes in Kenner, will again pit the Penguins against the Cabrini Crescents.  Last year the Penguins defeated Cabrini to move on to the second round of the playoffs.  The bowlers have high hopes of defeating Cabrini again to advance.

The team’s “high hopes” will rest on the shoulders of Tanisha Pierce (12), Linh Dinh (11), Mary Williams (11), Brianna Melanson (12), Ashley Aucoin (11), Lauren Barrois (11), and Hien Tran (11).  In relief, new varsity members: Melissa Le (10), Taylor LaFrance (10), Montana Hanna (10), Kayley Hawxhurst (10), Amber Parks (11), and Rachal Cadres (11), will get their shot to help the team to victory in the playoffs.

In Club Bowling news, Brianna Melanson and Emily Hamm both qualified for the Pepsi Lousiana State USBC Individual Championships, to be held April 28th and 29th in Bosier City.
