The Academy of Our Lady

Propel to new heights

Mission Club

With a positive attitude and an open heart, the mission club provides service for others in our community.  Some activities Mission Club has sponsored are Jeans for Teens, Invisible Children, working at Second Harvest Food Bank and cooking dinner for women who have been victims of abuse at Crescent House.

Luncheon Auction

A luncheon auction, Mission Club-style, is set for Thursday, March 3, and everything up for bids will be good to eat.
The annual auction will take place during an A.M. activity, and the Mission Club will put a variety of boxed lunches up for bids.  The lunch boxes will each serve from eight to ten students.  Campus organizations are donating the lunches, and auction participants will have the opportunity to bid as individuals or as groups for their favorite foods.
What’s on the menu?  So far, some boxes are expected to feature food from Subway, Cane’s, Popeyes, Mo’s Pizza, Dominos, and Taco Bell.
Theresa Donnelly, Mission Club moderator, said funds from the auction will be donated to Café Hope, a program of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.  Café Hope, which is located on Barataria Boulevard in Marrero, provides training in the food service business for at-risk young people
