Culinary Arts Students Compete in National ProStart Competition
Academy of Our Lady students placed first in the Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers ProStart Management Competition at the Louisiana ProStart Invitational on March 31. Senior Cailey Rousseau, senior Faith Bailey, junior Helen Kassahun and junior Chelsey Termine competed as a team to present a restaurant concept they developed, which demonstrated their knowledge of the restaurant industry and encompassed key elements such as the menu, design, marketing strategies and budget, to win $131,000 in scholarships.
On April 28-30, these four students will not only represent Academy of Our Lady but also the state of Louisiana at the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s ProStart Student Invitational in Charleston, South Carolina. Students participating in the national competition have the opportunity to win more than $1 million in scholarships.
State Science Olympiad
Academy of Our Lady students in eighth and ninth grade competed in the Louisiana State Science Olympiad at Southeastern Louisiana University on April 8. These students competed in multiple events within Division B, which is comprised of students in grades 6-9 throughout Louisiana.
Freshman Mallory Hines and pre-freshman Emily Lubag won third place in Disease Detectives and Hovercraft events. Pre-freshmen Megan O’Brien and Olivia Marque placed third in the event Write It, Do It. Pre-freshmen Christine Nguyen and An Vu placed third in the Mission Possible event.
Spend your summer at the Academy! For girls and boys ages 3-12, summer camp at Academy of Our Lady consists of fun activities like swimming, arts & crafts, sports, skits, line dancing, field trips and much more!

Session II: July 10th - 28th.
